Real meat is always the first ingredient in X, which means there is more of that ingredient than any other in our formulas. Meat protein is the best source of essential amino acids, which are vital to muscle development. |
Caru meets this challenge. Real meat is always the first ingredient in our dog stews. |

Fruit and vegetables provide essential phytonutrients, antioxidants and enzymes, plus natural vitamins, minerals and fibers. Proven to promote health and wellness, they are also considered highly digestible carbohydrate sources. |
All Caru dog stews contain both fruit and vegetables, which are readily digestible and provide a great source of natural vitamins, minerals and fiber as well as a source of healthy antioxidants. |
3. |
A precise blend of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants selected by holistic vets and animal nutritionists. |
All the vitamins and minerals added to Caru dog food have a purpose. Vitamins and minerals are required for muscle contraction, nerve conduction and the prevention of disease. |

Brand X never has chicken (or poultry) by-product meals. Poultry [chicken] by-product meal consists of the ground, rendered, clean parts of the carcass of slaughtered poultry, such as necks, feet, undeveloped eggs and intestines. These ingredients are considerably less costly than chicken and poultry meals made from whole meat. |
There are no by-products or meals in ANY Caru stew. |
5. |
Brand X never has artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. Preservatives like BHA, BHT, ethoxyquin and propylene glycol provide no nutritional value and have been associated with possible toxic side effects. Many pet food brands resort to artificial colors and flavors in an attempt to make food look and taste better. |
There are no artificial preservatives, colors, flavors, fillers or sugar in Caru dog stews. Even Caru stew packaging is good for pets as it is BPA-free. |
6. |
No Corn, Wheat or Soy Protein. All of these fillers are incomplete sources of protein and have been known to cause allergies in dogs. Grain proteins are used by some brands as inexpensive protein sources, but they do not contain the complete amino acid profiles specific for dogs and cats and are not as easily digestible as more nutritious meat-based proteins. |
There are no grains in Caru dog stews. Our dog stews are gluten and wheat free. In fact, some of our customers use Caru stews as home cooking alternatives for pets with food allergies. |

Caru stews only contain one source of water, not both broth and water. Other brands such as Brand X have broth and water as both their 2nd and 3rd ingredients. So if you add all the water that makes up the broth and combine it with the water, then water would be the NUMBER ONE ingredient in Brand X’s wet dog food. At Caru, we don’t need to resort to tricks to show meat as our number one ingredient. Caru stews do not contain egg which can be an allergen. Caru stews do not need to contain “Natural Flavor” since they are flavored by high quality natural ingredients. |
