Hi, we’re Adrian and Pamela Pettyan.

We founded Caru Pet Food in 2014 out of love for our wonderful dog and all pets. Practically from puppyhood, Karu (no, that’s not a misspelling!) had constant ear infections. To address this, our veterinarian suggested a homemade diet consisting of pure, healthy, nutritious food. From the day we switched Karu to this new dietary routine, we found that he was more playful and healthy.

Our story

Both of us were running a community health care center in Canada at that time. As medical professionals, we couldn’t understand why the pet food products at our local stores weren’t as good as what we could make at home. So in close collaboration with an accomplished animal Ph.D. nutritionist, we created a complete line of meals and treats that look, smell and taste as good as homemade.

Our innovations

Among the many milestones Caru Pet Food has celebrated, we introduced the very first ready-to-serve stews prepared with 100% human grade ingredients for dogs and cats. After assessing all the benefits, we decided to pack them in Tetra Pak® cartons instead of cans – another North American industry first. Now Caru is leading the way in pet nutrition again with our Omega Balanced Blend-infused stews.

Our Karu

Our beloved pooch Karu sadly passed away in 2018. He will always be missed. But we’re comforted knowing his legacy lives on in the health and happiness of every pet who enjoys our stews and treats.
